SunSmart Canoe Sprint State Championships & Marathon 4km Challenge.
Champion Lakes 1st & 2nd Feb 2020

Hi All, This is the biggest sprint regatta in many years, The schedule
is busy and a measure of the success of Sprint in WA. it’s also  great
to have the Marathon 4km Challenge as part of the combined  regatta.

The regatta schedule is attached. Race briefing and  volunteer schedule
in separate posts.

Race scratchings – Scratching/missing a race usually results in
disqualification for the regatta, unless for legitimate/medical
reasons,  and a fee is paid to re-enter the regatta. While the committee
may not  impose this official rule fully, please do not scratch/miss a
race  (because it’s windy, too hot, tired etc). The organising team have
spent  a lot of time sorting out grids/heats/lanes and scratchings
destroy the  schedule.

Start gates – Start gate practice is from 7.45am Saturday, please make
use of the gates as they cost us a lot and we want to get our $  worth!

Boat control – There will be boat weighing after the races, listen for
you number and go straight to boat control. Masters/Guppies classes are
excluded.

It’s fantatsic to have K4s racing at the States –  500m crews for Sunday
sprint are yet to be decided.

A new event is the **Marathon 4km K4 racing**, which is proving to be
very competitive, and will be a great event. Nominations for these
crews are still coming in. Please see Doug Hodson to coordinate.

BBQ – There will be a BBQ for the Guppies on Saturday, and also on
Sunday at the end of racing.
Medals – all finals, and direct finals will have medals presented where
there is a class. Medals will be presented during the regatta.

And not least – have a look at the volunteer schedule – a big thank  you
to our team – it takes at least 15 to run the regatta, if your at  the
course and can help, come a see us in the Control Tower. Many roles  are
easy to learn, and the team is great fun.

It’s going to be a great weekend of sprint and marathon/LDR events at
Champion Lakes. See you there. Paddle WA Sprint Technical Committee
